WHAT IS VERMEIL?

Gold Vermeil is sterling silver that has been gold-plated. This is a good combination for those with allergy to normal, plated jewelry items. The difference between vermeil, and gold-filled, is in the thickness of the gold and the base metal used. In vermeil, the base is sterling silver. Vermeil must meet FTC standards of 100 millionths of an inch of gold layered over sterling silver. Vermeil should not be machine polished.

WHAT IS GOLD FILLED METAL?

Gold-filled, or gold overlay, is made by heat- and pressure-bonding a thin layer of karat gold to a brass (or other base metal) core. The “14/20” or “12/10” notation refers to the industry shorthand describing the resulting material. The first number is the karat purity of the gold used; the second number is the amount, by weight, of gold to the substrate material. “14/20” gold-filled material is made with 14-karat gold and the gold represents 1/20th (or 5%) of the total weight of the material. You may occasionally see other notations, too; each will inform you about the material’s make-up. For example, “14/40” gold-filled is composed of 14-karat gold that represents 1/40th (or 2.5%) of the overall weight of the material.

WILL VERMEIL + GOLD-FILLED TARNISH?

With proper care, vermeil and gold-filled jewelry does have the power of resisting tarnish. However, as does pure gold, gold-filled metals do get dirty with time and exposure to unexpected elements. Your pi jewelry will need some TLC once in a while to maintain the original sheen.

IS VERMEIL + GOLD-FILLED HYPOALLERGENIC?

Nickel is the leading cause of jewelry allergies. We aim to keep all of our jewelry nickel and lead free.

Some people have allergic reactions to some plating because traditional plating requires nickel to brighten the appearance of the gold. However, our plating process eliminates the need for nickel.

Our gold-filled items are also certified to be nickel free.

IS ALL THE JEWELRY MADE IN THE USA

Yes, all of our jewelry is made in the USA. We pride our branding on the quality of US made products.

Care + Sizing

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY VERMEIL + GOLD-FILLED METAL?

Care should be taken when cleaning gold-filled and gold plated jewelry to protect the layer of gold from being worn away or nicked. Do not use abrasive compounds to clean the jewelry.

Although vermeil and gold-filled jewelry will not tarnish, it will get dirty. The oils from your skin transfer to the metal and need to be washed off periodically. The easiest way to care for it is to scrub it with an old soft toothbrush and a mild dish washing liquid. Rinse it well and lay on a towel to dry. Be sure it is completely dry before storing.

WILL MY NECKLACE FIT?

Yaaass!! Most of our necklaces are adjustable. The necklace and choker styles are 13″ to 16″ in length. The lariats and necklaces with large shapes are 20″.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?

Thepicollection.com estimates 1-3 business days for order processing. You will receive shipping confirmation once your order has been processed and shipped. Domestic shipment’s estimated time of delivery via USPS First-Class Mail is 3 – 5 business days. International shipments take an estimated 2-3 weeks for delivery.

DO I HAVE THE ABILITY TO CANCEL MY ORDER?

All orders are processed within 3 business days and as quickly as a few hours. Should you need to cancel, please email us at hello@thepicollection.com. If your order has already been dispatched, you would need to submit your order for a return within 7 days of receipt. Shipping will not be included in the refund.

WHAT SHIPPING METHOD DOES THEPICOLLECTION.COM USE?

All web orders placed for domestic transit are shipped via USPS First-Class Mail.

International web orders are shipped via USPS First-Class Package International Service.

USPS Priority Mail is available but desired delivery dates cannot be guaranteed.

DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?

Currently, thepicollection.com ships to Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Japan, and UK via USPS First-Class Package International Service. We hope to add more countries in the future. Please check out our stockist page for retailers in your country.

WHAT IF MY ORDER IS DAMAGED DURING THE SHIPPING PROCESS?

We understand at times through transit, jewelry pieces will not always make it. If that is the case, we will gladly refund or exchange the product after review. Please apply for our Homies for Life program.

When the damaged piece is received, we will send you a replacement or credit your original form of payment (which ever decision was made during case approval). All transactions are made via customer consent.

DO YOU REFUND LOST ORDERS?

We provide shipping tracking numbers with every order. We do not refund lost orders. Once it leaves our facility, it is now in the responsibility of the US Postal Service to get it to you safely.
